Home Ownership and Home Loan Payment Schemes
The government has extended both the Home Ownership Scheme and the Home Loan Payment Scheme until 30 June 2023. Under both schemes, Government refunds 5% of the property value or the loan amount, irrespective of the number of properties owned by the beneficiary.
Home Ownership Scheme
This scheme applies to the acquisition of property, irrespective of the number of properties owned by the beneficiary. Government will refund 5% of the property value, up to a maximum of MUR 500,000. All claims have to be filed through the notary.
Home Loan Payment Scheme
A 5% refund of the loan amount by the Government of Mauritius, up to a maximum of MUR 500,000. This scheme applies to all Home Loans registered between 1 July 2021 and 30 June 2023 for the sole purpose of constructing and or completing the construction of a residence and excludes renovations, refinancing of an existing housing loan and other multi-purpose loans.
